Mantra-OM-AUM also is one of the most sacred mantra of Hinduism. It symbolizes the Divine Brahman and the entire Universe. Also called OMKARA ("syllable OM").

Its meaning:

This syllable is also called the Udgitha (strong edge) or Pranava Mantra (prayer vibrant "), being Prau pranauti or" make a vibrating sound, it is considered by the Hindus primordial sound source and the source of most of the Mantras (Mantras are considered divine words or sounds and powerful).

The OM is the symbol of the essence in Hinduism. It means oneness with the Supreme, the combination of the physical and spiritual. It is the sacred syllable, the first sound of the Almighty, the sound from which emerges all other sounds, whether music or language.

In the Vedic scriptures:

In the Upanishads this sacred syllable appears as a mystic tones considered by the Scriptures as the true basis of any other sacred mantra or hymn. Not only is the sound of origin but also the end. The past, present and future are all included in this one sound and even all that transcends time setting that is implicit in the OM.

Taitreya According to Upanishad the origin of language is assigned to Prajapati (another name of the creator god Brahma, whose meditation on the three letters AUM arise the three Vedas, as well as three words: bhu (Earth), BHUVA (atmosphere) and Suah (Sky), we can see in the Gayatri Mantra or intercessions, for example.
Of these three, in turn, originates the divine syllable OM, which coordinated all speech and represented the entire universe .

The syllable OM also represents the Trimurti or triad of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, Shiva drum produced this sound and he went through seven notes of the octave, to say, sa, ri, ga, ma, pa, dha, ni. With this sound, Shiva creates and recreates the universe.

The Upanishads state that everything-existent and the non-existent, can be controlled by uttering the sacred syllable OM. The efficacy of OM is believed to unlimited and rescues every error event in the form of a sacrifice. Meditation on OM satisfies every need and leads to the release. Almost all the prayers and sacred passages are prefixed by the manifestation of OM.

The syllable "OM" which is Sanskrit letter represented by the symbol in the image of this post, is to Yoga, all primary vibration the Universe. Is an abstract concept, but similar to the modern theory of Big Bang or pop Primordial Universe, "OM" is the original vibration from which all creation.

Through meditation on "Om" the Yogi reaches the state of liberation or "MOKSHA" and is used as a powerful sound abstract (not the subject of representation) in meditation. Through the mental repetition of the syllable "Om" the mind keeps getting stronger and more stable, the waves subside and background belies the ocean of peace and infinite happiness or "ANANDA". Its vibration provides a positive flow of vibrations that are felt in our body, particularly encouraging the pituitary gland. In the yogic system this powerful Mantra or mystic sound is "BIJA" or Ajna Chakra SEED. Through repetition of mind and fixity of mind in this chakra, this is activated, the life currents stop working on a dual and dissolves the illusion of separateness and individuality.

.
The Tibetan Mandala construction is not just about creating an image but also a kind of meditative performance, where the public can look for hours at the monks, who with slow movements and restless intricately shaped the original model which goes back hundreds of years, making manifest the exalted qualities of Buddhist philosophy: discipline, diligence and patience palpable in the very act of painting.

Monks pigmented sand distributed through instruments called Chakpurs conical metal with which they form a painting structured around a design of concentric circles, and ornate designs that represent different elements alluding to Buddhist philosophy. This process is carried out over several consecutive days.

The process of painting is hard to watch. In Western art usually occurs in private in the artist's studio; but in the case of sand mandalas is given great emphasis, both the creation process and the outcome-and the monks demonstrate their ability to maintain their concentration in the middle of a public space.

When the process completes, the Tibetan Mandala sand remains exposed for a limited time (usually no more than a couple of hours) as the mandala dissolves right after it ended. This well-done-that Tibetan sand mandalas are an ephemeral art and impermanent: After seven days of meticulous preparation, pigmented sand is collected and discharged into the river. "

Tibetan Sand Mandalas have been considered recently as artistic heritage and cultural development of humanity and beyond their context within Tibetan Buddhism, are exhibited in museums and schools around the world.
Namgyal Monastery monks have painted mandalas at Brown University, New York, Lehigh University Bethlehem, PA, Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, Ackland Art Museum, University of North Carolina in Italy, Finland, Switzerland and many places.
